The Caribbean Culture Park in Barranquilla

The Caribbean Culture Park is a cultural centre devoted to the promotion of the historical, natural and cultural heritage of the Colombian Caribbean region and, in its first stage, involves the design, construction, production, setup and startup of the Museum of the Caribbean and related facilities.

Located in the historical centre of Barranquilla, this modern complex of 22,000 square metres arose out of the will of important public and private institutions, at national, departmental and local level, to offer the Colombian Caribbean region a cultural and academic facility which would fill the region’s needs.

Besides the Museum of the Caribbean, the Culture Park houses the Caribbean Children’s Library, an events hall, a 12,000 m2 public plaza, play zones and ample green areas. From the second half of 2009, the Macondo Mediatheque will open, specializing in the work of Gabriel García Márquez and a room devoted to the life and work of the Colombian Nobel prize winner.
