I.E.D Jorge N Abello participated at the Distrital Forum 2009. The school presented its experience on the Bilingualism Project "It's English Time". The forum had as main purpose showing different meanigful experiences from several schools of the city. After being selected as semifinilist, the school competed with four diffrent and well -recognized public schools: IDDI Nueva Granada, Alexander Von Humboldt and Marco Fidel Suarez. The dynamic of the forum,which was introduced by the minister of education Cecilia Velez White and the secretary of education of Barranquilla Lucia Ruiz Martinez, consisted on making an oral presentation of the projects and explaining their advances and results.
At the end of the presentation it was selected the best project. The jurors decided that our project It's English time! was the winner. We got the first place and everybody in the school sholud be proud of this triumph because it represents the consolidation of a group of teachers who had worked really hard in order to get a dream: encouraging students to believe that dreams can come true.
